The little Town of Prosper, Texas is growing. In just a few years, this North Dallas suburb has grown from around 2,000 to 3,000 people. It’s a unique place to call home for those seeking the solitude of country living without sacrificing the benefits of living near the big city.
Prosper is located about 10 miles northwest of McKinney near State Highway 289. More than 75 percent of the town’s population in 200 was married, and the median age for residents was 32.
Prosper Texas is prospering in the new millennium as new growth in the region brings and increase in population and more new home building in the $200,000 to $500,000 and up range.
Prosper was built in 1902 on the new railroad line that ran through north Texas. It was one of the last towns established in Collin County and was located in a part of the country known as Elm Valley.
Railroad officials are said to have named the town for the prosperous living conditions found there. It was formally incorporated in 1914 with a population of 500.
Prosper is home to Dallas Cowboy football legends Deion Sanders and Bill Bates. The high school teams are the Eagles.
